In the heart of Piedmontese viticulture
“Roero is that portion of territory located north of Alba, on the left bank of the Tanaro river, between the plain of Carmagnola and the low hills of Asti.
As in many other areas of Piedmont, viticulture in Roero has a millenary history: in fact, viticulture developed before the arrival of Romans, since the presence of Ligurians, probably thanks to the influence of Etruscans, and it extends with increasing intensity until today.
One of the elements that characterize the landscape of Roero are its continental soils, based on river gravels and clays, from those of marine origin, where the vine finds its ideal conditions.
However, compared to other neighboring wine-growing areas, Roero is characterized by a remarkable variety of landscapes that, next to the vine, see the presence of woods and orchards”.
